Job description

We are looking for a talented web designer who is able to work on web and branding projects within a small and friendly team.

Intelligent Retail is an international company with offices in the UK and Australia. We offer retail software, responsive website design and online marketing services using our own software framework.

You will be responsible for the creative design and implementation of eCommerce websites for a wide selection of independent retailers, using HTML/CSS/Javascript, incorporating designs into our in-house developed eCommerce framework.

Working closely with business owners covering a wide range of different business sectors, you will control the entire project from start to finish with backup of our in-house projects team.

Training will be given on use of our eCommerce framework and tools we use for project management and deployment.

We are looking for a web designer who can demonstrate a passion and flare for design and who is comfortable with modern responsive design techniques.

Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to learn quickly in a technical and creative environment, while delivering quality design work to tight deadlines are key attributes for this role.

Key Responsibilities & Objectives

Implement web designs to meet customer specifications. To include:

  • Making sure all websites fulfil the brief and business objectives detailed in the Design

Requirements Document set out at the beginning of each project.

  • Always maintain knowledge of new web design styles to keep Intelligent Retail designs cutting edge.
  • Manage requests for revisions in an efficient manner.
  • Manage customer expectations: Keeping projects in line with agreed specification, timeframes, and budgetary requirements.
  • Flag any potential risks to project timeframe or budget to line manager / project manager.
  • Able to keep creativity alive within own projects.
  • Create help-sheets to assist customers through their project.
  • Log time spent against each project using Teamwork (Project Organiser).
  • Carry out QA processes efficiently and accurately.
  • Carry out Design Presentations over the phone or in person.
  • Manage own workload, considering priorities of the team. Able to move with the changing priorities in line with business needs.
  • Provide simple management report at the end of each week, showing work completed and active projects stages to Line Manager.
  • Measure: Customer Satisfaction ratings show 90% would recommend us to another retailer for web design.
  • Maintain branding and graphic design using Photoshop for company flyers, brochures, and other business stationery to fit into the Intelligent Retail brand.

You will receive training to:

  • Build websites using the Connect framework

We expect you to:

  • Be confident editing HTML, CSS and Javascript to modern Responsive standards
  • Offer top-quality, cutting-edge design for our clients
  • Have a friendly, approachable, and co-operative manner
  • Ensure each web page is as efficient as possible for fast loading times, complying with good coding practice.
  • Be the design / brand champion for the Intelligent Retail website and portfolio of stationery. Keep the website and stationery updated in line with business objectives.
  • Have confidence with Photoshop or other advanced graphics package.

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £20,000.00-£27,000.00 per year

COVID-19 considerations:
Desks remain socially distanced. We have adopted a Hybrid approach to working, where the office is open Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. All staff work from home Mondays & Fridays. Hand Sanitizer readily available at all workstations.
